WIKIBON TO HOST CUSTOMER PANELS AT FALL 2008 SNW IN DALLAS
Wikibon Leads Two Energy Efficiency Thought Leadership Panels
Marlborough, MA, October 8, 2008--Wikibon, the world’s first Web 2.0 technology research and advisory community, today announced it will be hosting two customer and technologist panels at Computerworld's Storage Networking World conference in Dallas. The event will be held at the Dallas Gaylord Texan from October 13th - 16th.
The first panel meets at 2:10 PM in the Data Center/Infrastructure Track on Tuesday October 14th. The session is entitled: From Megawatts to Megabucks: How California Utilities are Leading the Way to Energy Efficiency and features the following guests:
- Rich Avila Director of Network Operations of Cal State University Hayward
- Mark Bramfitt of PG&E
- Alan Rose of CLEAResult representing Oncor, the local Dallas utility
The panel will be hosted by David Vellante, Co-founder of Wikibon and will explore how the utilities and IT industries are coming together to solve an important problem, namely that many data centers are running out of power and virtually all data centers are spending increasing amounts of budget dollars on energy. We’ll draw upon the experience of utilities and an end customer to help the audience understand the model for how utilities companies are supporting the efforts of data centers across the country to improve energy efficiency.
The second panel, also hosted by Vellante, meets at 3:05 PM in the Data Center/Infrastructure Track on Wednesday October 15th. Reducing Data Center Costs through Improved Energy Efficiency features:
- Daryl Molitor of JC Penney
- Phil Bullinger of LSI’s Engenio Storage Group
- Clod Barrerra of IBM’s Systems and Technology Group
- Ken Osterberg of Seagate
The panel will explore the notion that CIOs of large U.S. organizations are about to undergo a period of rapid change to their data centers and they must be prepared. Advancements in server and storage equipment density and increased floor space demand will put new pressure on organizations. Those that don’t react will see exceedingly high energy bills and maintenance costs while at the same time missing out on the adoption of new innovations. While technology got us into this problem, technology, in part can help us alleviate the pressure by providing more intelligent ways of managing information and exploiting technologies that are more efficient.
If you're planning to be at SNW, please join us for what are sure to be two informative sessions.
