Wikibon Co-founder David Vellante and Berry College Director and CSO to Address SNW Forum on Green IT Opportunities
Wikibon is pleased to announce that it has again been selected by Storage Networking World representatives to speak at SNW. David Vellante, Co-founder of Wikibon will co-present with Wikibon member William Souder, Director Network Operations & Chief Security Officer, Berry College. The conference will take place from Monday April 7 - April 10 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida.
The duo will deliver its presentation on the first slot of Day 1, Monday morning at 9:20AM in the Next Generation Data Center Track. The theme of the discussion is:
The Power Shift to Next Generation Storage Infrastructure
Description: Case studies show that consolidating and modernizing data centers can save upwards of $10M annually on the power budget. Targeted initiatives including virtualization, thin provisioning and sensible outsourcing can dramatically improve business technology responsiveness and cut costs. However, organizational friction to change can severely impede progress. Using Green IT as a rallying cry can serve to catalyze momentum around such initiatives. This session shares the experiences of a green IT practitioner to use ‘light green’ strategies (eco-friendly) to realize ‘dark green’ results (dollars saved).
As a result of participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
- Communicate the economic fundamentals of energy consumption in the data center generally and storage specifically
- Identify the key storage actions to reduce cost and understand their respective tradeoffs
- Leverage organizational-wide green initiatives to successfully achieve dramatic improvements in infrastructure efficiency
If you plan to be in Orlando, please plan to attend what is sure to be an interactive and informative session.
