What is the future of ISCSI SAN in compared to FC SAN
--
I linked an article that I wrote about 2 years ago. iSCSI continues to see solid growth across mid-market and commercial environments. It is also used for some service provider and cloud gateway solutions. Almost all midrange storage solutions offer iSCSI. The FC vs iSCSI debate usually comes down to the skills and size of the IT environment - staff that owns the full stack (server/storage/network) will usually lean towards NAS/iSCSI, while larger environments with a dedicated storage team will lean towards FC. The Wikibon community has told us that protocol decisions are typically driven by the solution delivered by VARs/SIs more than customer preference.
