MetaScale is a relatively small professional services firm focused on Hadoop architecture, deployment and performance optimization services. It is a subsidiary of Sears, giving it significant domain knowledge and experience in the retail space. I say they are relatively small, but so are all pure-play Hadoop professional services firms. It is very early in the market, but professional services is 40%+ of current Big Data revenue and recent research indicates 70%+ of Hadoop practitioners employ professional services firms to help with architecture, design, etc. So there's a huge opportunity for pro services firms in this space.
