Will Intel's Lightpeak support both USB 2.0 and 3.0 , when it rolls out
Intel's Light Peak Technology is an optical connection - see http://techresearch.intel.com/articles/None/1813.htm for more details. They have not given details of what protocols will be supported as far as I can tell, just that it will be "many industry standard" options.
