Hello Jeff Kelly,
My name is Rutger Fichtinger and I am working as a business consultant on a vision document for analytics driven organizations. For this vision document I am searching for research which indicated that Big data appliances create ROI for organizations.
With this in mind I read your article ‘Enterprises Struggling to Derive Maximum Value from Big Data’. Here you note: ‘According to feedback from the Wikibon community and early results from the recent survey of Big Data practitioners, enterprises expect a return of between $3 and $4 for every $1 invested in Big Data technology over the next three to five years. The realty, however, is that most enterprises have to date achieved a return of just $.55 on the dollar.’
Nice results of actually proving the value of Big data for organizations, but I am curious on how you find this result: - Could you give me more information of the descriptive statistics of the respondents behind this research, e.g. amount of respondents, position of respondents in their organizations etc? - How did you question the respondents about the ROI? - And is there information available when ROI is measured?
You would really help me with these insides. Many thanks in advance for your reply. Kind regards,
Rutger Fichtinger
