First Web 2.0 research meeting unlocks the secrets of IT advisory.
Former Meta Group Executive to lead the initiative.
Wikibon, the source for open IT and business advisory knowledge, has announced a new community offering, the interactive, online research meeting. The research meeting concept is a proven process that involves bringing together interested, informed and intelligent analysts to review topics, reach hard-hitting conclusions and convey independent thought about the adoption of IT. Wikibon, for the first time is opening these forums to a community of peers, where anyone is invited to contribute.
Peter Burris, formerly Co-research Director of Meta Group, a leading industry analyst firm acquired by Gartner, Inc. architected the Peer Incite meeting approach. While at Meta, Burris Co-chaired hundreds of such meetings designed to catalyze fresh thinking, mentor analysts and bring a level of consistency to critical issues.
The research meeting process involves an analyst or community member submitting a topic in advance for discussion. The moderator will call on the analyst to present her/his topic and thesis which is then debated by the community, under the direction of the moderator. Once the moderator feels the issue has been examined and vetted adequately a consensus opinion is articulated as well as a short research note on the topic. The note is then transcribed and made available to the community.
Wikibon is integrating voice, chat, content management, tagging and other Web 2.0 technologies to break down the mysteries of the research process. Anyone is welcome to attend the meetings and participate as long as they are willing to have their work open to peer review by the Wikibon community.
For more information on the research meetings, please go to http://www.wikibon.org and locate Upcoming Events on the home page.
