Adequate data protection

What is adequate data protection?

Adequate data protection means that the vast majority of backups (90%+) are completed successfully and IT professionals have tools and metrics that track successful completion of backup. It also means IT professionals are responsible for ensuring that backups are completed properly, the process is documented and highly automated with as little human intervention as possible.

Adequate protection also implies that a business impact analysis has been performed and the RPO and RTO of major applications is understood and backup and recovery processes align with these objectives.
