With an on-line services model, a rapidly growing customer base and an expanding application set, Robert Reeder, CIO of The Rezolve Group, wanted to convert from his active-passive, two-data-center approach to an active-active architecture, that would provide near-instant failover of critical applications. Data replication was a key requirement, but with a production data center in California and a recovery data center in Massachusetts, the network created a bottleneck. Latency and throughput were ongoing challenges. In addition, he needed to integrate with different application and data types and different replication technologies. He also needed to allocate available bandwidth based upon application service levels and wanted to insure that whatever approach he used would stand up when the company experienced inevitable spikes in transaction and throughput requirements.
Join the Robert Reeder and the Wikibon community as we discuss:
- How can organizations support near 100% application availability by converting active-passive data centers to full-production, active-active data centers?
- How can organizations make network improvements without disrupting the existing operational environment?
- How can organizations load balance and apply service levels to network traffic depending upon application criticality?
- How can organizations support heterogeneous replication technologies with a single network?
- What is the importance of application awareness in replication technologies?
- What impact does an in-band device have on data throughput during periods of high load?
