The debate in the marketplace is not whether to virtualize Oracle - it's clear that test and dev as well as smaller systems greatly benefit from aggressive virtualization of Oracle databases. Disagreements arise however over how far into the Oracle application portfolio customers can push virtualization.
On one side of the coin are practitioners who feel virtualizing Oracle is too risky due to concerns over performance, security and Oracle support. Others feel that virtualizing Oracle decreases risk because it improves testing, recovery and simplifies migration.
On Tuesday, May 3rd the Wikibon community will gather with industry practitioners to review findings of a recent Wikibon research study around this important topic.
