On Tuesday, June 29th at 12pm ET the Wikibon community will be joined by two industry luminaries, Richie Lary and Steve Sicola.
According to Joseph Kovar, "If you ever have the chance to listen to Richie Lary give his take on the storage industry, do it. Not only is he one of the industry's brightest professionals, but he's also probably the funniest." Lary is a Xiotech Fellow and was instrumental in launching Digital's StorageWorks business in the 1980's.
Steve Sicola is a 30-year veteran of the Storage industry, also worked at DEC, Compaq and Seagate. He owns more than 40 patents granted or filed in the areas of in RAID, Caching, Fault Tolerance, Reliable Systems, Error Recovery and Information Lifecycle Management. Sicola was the CTO for the StorageWorks Division and one of the original developers of HP's EVA.
Both Lary and Sicola have worked on challenging problems including addressing disk drive failure rates with dramatically new technology approaches and developing storage systems that can deliver consistent and predictable application performance
Please join us in this meeting as we have a free form discussion with these two technology visionaries. We'll discuss:
- What's the reality of disk drive failure rates and how can the industry better address the problem
- What approaches should be considered to deliver balanced performance and linear growth at the application level
- What's the future of the dual controller architecture?
Please join the conversation!
