Opening Pandora’s Box of SAN Management:
How to manage storage in an Increasingly Virtualized World

Our next Peer Incite is scheduled for Tuesday, January 12th - 12:00 noon ET, when we'll be joined by Ryan Perkowski, SAN Manager at a large credit card services firm. Ryan most recently spoke at SNW in Phoenix to packed room of very interested SAN managers/admins/architects.
Today’s SAN tools are deficient. Problem determination, capacity planning and ensuring predictable performance are more art than science. Adding more tools adds complexity, but insufficient tools or having the wrong tools will increase costs and risks. Virtualization, by masking physical resources related to both the servers and storage, only makes SAN management more difficult. In this Peer Incite Research Meeting, Ryan Perkowski will address the Wikibon community and share his experiences in managing a large, multivendor, mission-critical SAN infrastructure. At this open forum, we’ll discuss:
- How Ryan and his team managed SAN growth from 30TB to nearly ½ PB in three years.
- What his company used to improve processes through better virtualized SAN management tools.
- Advice to users as to how to best approach managing the SAN as virtualization becomes more prominent.
Please join us and participate in the conversation.
