Mark your calendars for Wikibon's next Peer Incite Tue, April 23rd.
Recorded video / audio from the Peer Incite:
Amazon is expected to generate roughly $3B in AWS sales in 2013. Its attack on traditional IT suppliers has been well-documented and the posture AWS has taken toward incumbent infrastructure vendors has been extremely aggressive. The bottom line – Amazon is getting serious about enterprise IT-as-a-Service and competing cloud service providers are not taking this lightly.
On the one hand this is great for customers because Amazon has popularized the cloud concept and is creating more competition. On the other hand, Amazon is pressuring IT organizations to respond; and while some Wikibon practitioners are moving to Amazon, most say they don’t want to put all their data in AWS because it’s often too expensive and too risky.
On April 23rd at 12 Noon EST the Wikibon community will gather to discuss cloud strategies generally and how enterprises should specifically evaluate AWS and alternative approaches.
Our guest will be Jason Mendenhall Executive Vice President of Cloud at Switch. Switch is the creator of the SuperNAP, an enormous colocation facility (see Wikibon's Largest Data Center Infographic) that also delivers networking services and a diverse cloud community. Switch hosts more than 500 vendors and Jason has visibility on some of the most advanced cloud strategies in the world.
Please join us as we discuss:
- Can private clouds be extended safely?
- Will hybrids truly be an extension of internal IT or simply a burst mechanism?
- Where does AWS fit into the technology portfolio?
- What alternatives exist and how will they compete?
- Critical factors IT execs should consider with cloud strategies.
