WikitipSecure file transfer researchDataMotion found from a recent study that one third of companies admit that they take compliance risks and lack confidence in corporate security. 84% of respondents believe that employees infringe security and compliance polices when it comes to secure file transfer and 45.5% think that the policies are understood. With this lack of knowledge in compliance only 37.5% of respondents thought their company would pass a compliance audit. The study contained over 200 IT and business decision-makers in the US and Canada to find out about corporate email and secure file transfer. It is important to send information securely via email but it seems as if many companies have not yet grasped this concept and are putting their business at risk, and potential fines that are best avoided. There are easy and cost effective means of securing data, but companies need to learn and teach their employees about the importance of secure file transfer and the risks they face when not complying. |
