What is Wikibon?

Simply it’s a wiki with good answers to good questions. Moreover, Wikibon has good intentions. Not only is this wiki free of charge but it's free as in freedom. You are free to do whatever you want with this wiki (as long as it’s not vulgar, unethical or illegal), including using it for non-commercial or commercial purposes. The information in this wiki is written by you and your peers; experts in their respective fields willing to share their experience for the greater good. Wikibon is not about making money. We run this not-for-profit wiki an a low budget, funded by donations from benefactors, with the intent of getting information into the hands of individuals and professionals around the world who need it most. Free, open, international...good.

Differences from Wikipedia

Wikibon is similar to Wikipedia in terms of its rules, openness, committment to peer review and system of governance. It differs in content, however. Wikipedia is fact-based and has a strict no original research policy [1]. Wikibon, on the other hand, encourages independent thoughts, opinions and experiences with the explicit intent of helping people get good work done.

Wikibon's contribution policy stresses independent thought and experential "how to" advice.

Wikibon Structure

We've made a number of assumptions about the wikibon structure.

Purpose of this Wiki

This wiki serves two purposes: (1) to demonstrate our concept of an open, wiki-based source of peer-review information on business system and IT best practices, and (2) to solicit external feedback on NuCo's strategies and tactics. Currently, we have two "spaces" in this wiki. The first, and most important, is the storage best practice wiki. This is the Wikibon wiki prototype. We're inviting a limited number of storage experts to add content to a core stencil created by Dave Vellante and David Floyer. Any content added to this space will be regarded as free open source content.

The other space is a "NuCo Name" space. Here, we've invited a few folks to help us name NuCo. This information will be owned by NuCo -- or whatever it's called. Please feel free to contribute anything of relevance to the wiki.

Start by checking out the storage Wikibon.
