WikitipAndroid may be more attractive to developersAndroid has finally arrived, and the initial reviews are favorable. In contrast to the iron control Apple exercises over every aspect of the iPhone/Touch environment, Android is open source, which opens the door for any third-party application suppliers to join the market. That open source approach also makes it much easier for enterprise-level software vendors and enterprises themselves to develop custom applications and application front-ends on Android than on the iPhone. And Android is a much more powerful platform for software development than the iPhone. The bottom line: Enterprises should examine all the available platforms and talk to their key software vendors before establishing a corporate standard. |
