The Cube Summer Tour ‘11 has John Furrier and Dave Vellante criss-crossing the country.
Tons of coverage of Cloud and Storage from EMC World in Las Vegas. Deep into applications and solutions at SAP Sapphire in Orlando. The Cube is covering the “athletes of the tech world” and I’ve watched more of our conversations than baseball this year (I do admit to being a Yankee fan in the middle of RedSox Nation).
This week, John and Dave go to Citrix Synergy at the Moscone in San Francisco where they will be covering the big themes of: the commoditization of IT, the transformation of desktops and angles on the virtualization and cloud ecosystems.

The “ESPN of Tech” will be broadcasting on SiliconAngle.tv starting at 6:30pm Pacific with Citrix CTO SimonCrosby. If you are at Synergy, you will find #theCUBE on the Expo floor on Tuesday evening and Wednesday (12:30-2pm Pacific) and then moving up to the 2nd floor of Moscone West for continued executive, partner and customer discussions on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday. Citrix partners on the program will include Liquidware Labs (winner of Citrix’s 2011 Tech Solution of the Year) Co-Founder Tyler “T-Rex” Lohrer, Pano Logic CEO John Kish, V3 Systems CEO Peter Bookman, Xiotech COO George Symons, CoreMobile CEO Chandra Shekhar Tekwani, and our friend Michael Keen of Lakeside Software who was a panelist on the Wikibon Desktop Virtualization Peer Incite. Citrix guests include John McIntyre, Managing Director of the Citrix Startup Accelerator, Chris Fleck, VP of Solution Development, Elizabeth Cholowsky, GM for Online Services, and more. The conference hashtag on Twitter is #citrixsynergy and you can send your questions and feedback via #theCube hashtag or directly to @furrier @dvellante @rizzn or @stu.
If you’d like a little background reading on the desktop virtualization space, check out this fast hitting 15 min video featuring Brian Madden or my article on the ecosystem. There is also a great thread on Quora: What is holding back the business adoption of VDI? A recent comment said that business customers “fear that they select a technology that ends up as the Betamax of the VDI world” .
The team gets a quick breather next week before Dell Storage Forum and HP Discover the week of June 6th.
