Infrastructure Cubed

Hi – this is my first blog post on the Wikibon site, so let me introduce myself.

My name is Stuart Miniman – you can call me Stu – and I am a new Principal Research Contributor here at Wikibon.  I have worked in high-tech my entire career.  Most recently, ten years at EMC, focused on storage networking and virtualization technologies.  See my LinkedIn profile for more on my background.

One of the main areas of research and analysis that I will be focused on will be the so-called Stack Wars (click the InfoGraphic on the right).  Some call this area Infrastructure 2.0, but I believe that we’re beyond the “2.0” terminology, so let’s call the convergence of server, network and storage INFRASTRUCTURE CUBED.

It’s a multi-dimensional issue which, if implemented properly, can lead to an exponential increase in efficiency (picture on the left is “The Cube” at EMC World where I discussed Converged Networks).

I will be writing my thoughts on Converged Networks and Rack Area Networks, my take on the Virtualization Networking roadmap, and many more topics.  My knowledge is based on many discussions with customers, technical field personnel and vendors.  I look for an open discussion where we can discuss the real value and challenges that are being faced in the industry.  Please feel free to post any comments on this blog or ping me on Twitter.  If you haven’t already, please consider subscribing to the Wikibon blog – there are options for email or your favorite feed reader on the right bar of this page.
