Big Data Innovation on Display in Boston

If you’re interested in Big Data and you find yourself in Boston tomorrow you owe it to yourself to head over to the Hyatt Regency in the Financial District. That’s where The IE Group is putting on its Big Data Innovation Summit and the list of speakers and sessions is impressive.

Here’s just a small sampling of the speakers:

  • Facebook’s Mohammad Sabah, a Data Scientist with previous experience at Netflix, will discuss “applying scalable machine learning algorithms for applications ranging from ranking to search to matching.” Sabah, who joined us on theCUBE at Hadoop Summit, will further explore why Hadoop is particularly effective on large and otherwise inaccessible data sets.
  • Joe Kleinhenz, Director of Big Data Analytics at Allstate Insurance, will present on a challenge facing all Data Scientists and analytic practitioners: when is Hadoop the right tool for the job and when should you look to other technologies for your analytic projects.
  • Yael Garten is presenting in a session titled “Data Infused Product Design and Insights at LinkedIn.” Garten is a Senior Data Scientist and Team Lead for Mobile Analytics at the social networking company. She’ll discuss the tools and techniques LinkedIn’s team of Data Scientists use to create compelling data-focused products and to perform impactful analytics.
  • Scott Nicholson, the Chief Data Scientist at Accretive Health and a PhD economist, will share his insights around applying Big Data Analytics tools and techniques to the healthcare industry.

That’s just a small sampling of the great content on display. The show runs all day Thursday, Sep. 13 and Friday, Sep. 14. Don’t miss it. If you can’t be there in person, follow the action on Twitter, hashtag #BDBN.
