About Me: David Vellante is the Co-founder of three technology startups, including ITCentrix, a CIO consultancy, Barometrix Software, an IT portfolio management company and The Wikibon Project, a Web 2.0 IT community launched in 2007 by former executives of the Meta Group (now Gartner, Inc.) and IDC.

Vellante started his career at IDC as an analyst in the enterprise server group, launched IDC's storage service and became a Senior Vice President of the company's largest division. At IDC he architected the launch of several growth initiatives including investment research services for Wall Street and various CIO practices. He was also active within the IDG publishing groups forming joint ventures with Infoworld and Networkworld and was a member of Computerworld's Board of Directors. As a CEO, he successfully helped bootstrap and launch companies, building organizational infrastructure and securing world-renowned customers such as EMC, HP, Hitachi, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Fidelity, Pfizer, Unisys and The World Bank. Throughout his career, Vellante has been an active proponent of leveraging technology to create measurable business value. He is a frequent speaker and active writer having published several hundred articles on the business of technology. Vellante is holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from Union College in New York.
