| About Me: My name is David Floyer and I'm one of the proud founders of the Wikibon project. I started in IBM as an internal operations research and systems analyst. I had experience in most of IBMs product areas, especially large system (mainframes and Unix) and in business justification. IBM's training was excellent, in systems engineering, operational management, sales, sales management and many other areas. I worked in Denmark in market research, and in France running briefings. In Europe I worked with the majority of large IT customers in an advisory capacity.
I left IBM in 1992 to start my own consultancy in Europe. In 1995 I married and moved to the US, and I was offered a job in IDC. I became an analyst with IDC, and introduced many changes into the technical and business analysis processes. As a result of introducing "Top-down/Bottom up" market analysis techniques and the simple concept that workload was an important element in establishing the "Strategic fit" for technologies, I helped dramatically increasing consultancy revenues for IDC. I was was promoted to Vice President in 1997. In 1998 the lure of running my own business came to the fore again, and I left IDC to start ITImpact. In 1999 I joined with Dave Vellante to found a software tools and consulting firm called ITCentrix which later became Barometrix Software Corporation. Both companies are still active and focus on getting value from IT and business investments. As CTO, I provide the vision for the company's products and corporate strategy. I work directly with Barometrix customers to define market and technical requirements and assist the Barometrix community in exploiting the company's portfolio management solutions. Being an analyst was one of the my most satisfying experiences, and it enabled me to take advantage of my broad technical, management and international experience of how IT is actually used by organizations. That's why I'm so excited that I and my colleagues, Dave Vellante and Peter Burris have started the Wikibon project because we want to do something creative for consumers of analysis. For us that means getting a bunch of really smart people together online to create useful, interesting and practical information business people can use, for free. I strongly believe in providing to everybody the best that I have. I hope you join us. I can guarantee it will be interesting, and that we will do everything possible to enhance your reputation, and increase your market worth. I look forward to working and learning with you and having a lot of fun. David Floyer If you want to reach me please email David.Floyer@wikibon.org | |||
