XIV Ltd. is a storage company based in Israel. Their primary product is Nextra, the first “single-architecture” storage system which eliminates the need to split storage solutions between tiers and architectures.

XIV is led by Moshe Yanai, one of the key architects of data storage systems and instrumental in the development of EMC's Symmetrix and DMX product lines throughout the 1990s. XIV was founded in 2002 by five graduates of the Talpiot program, Israel's elite military program for technology leaders. The innovative Nextra technology has been in development since 2002, with first customer installations in 2005.

The company has attracted top-notch storage, computing and engineering talent, including veterans of IBM, EMC, and other industry-leading storage companies. All bring their ample experience and best-practice knowledge to every aspect of the company’s endeavors.

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL and ARMONK, NY, January 2, 2008 -- IBM announced today that XIV will become part of the IBM System Storage business unit of the IBM Systems and Technology Group.
